Applying for a Library Card

Anyone living, working, or attending school in Ohio may obtain a free library card by applying at the McKinley Memorial Library.

At the time of application for a library card, please present a photo ID, such as an Ohio Driver's License or State of Ohio ID card. If your photo ID does not have your current address, a utility bill or piece of mail with a recent postmark showing your current address is required.

New cardholders will be limited to 4 items.

Juvenile Cards
A parent or legal guardian must be present with photo identification and proof of current address in order to apply for a library card for their child. Legal guardians must also provide proof of guardianship.

A parent or legal guardian may grant permission for their child,under the age of 18, unrestricted borrowing privileges of video-formatted materials including, but not limited to, DVDs.

Your Library Card
Your McKinley Memorial Library card must be presented in order to borrow library materials. 

Please inform the library of change of address and report a lost card immediately so that you will be protected.

The charge to replace a lost card is $1.50.

Student Cards
McKinley Memorial Library wants to encourage patrons of all ages to read. A Student Card is available to students within the Niles School District. The school will acquire a signed permission slip for the student in order for the Library to create the Student Card. A Student Card allows students to check out up to 3 print juvenile materials and access eMedia and digital resources. Holds are not permitted. Students may have a Student Card maintained by their school in addition to a Juvenile Card which requires a parent/legal guardian signature at the time of application.
